Rose Robbins

http://www.rosesongs.com

When you visit the website of this singer/songwriter be prepared to be spell bound.  Be ready to put your mp3 player in "repeat" mode and clear your calendar because days or weeks could pass before you've had your fill of the two sensual and beautifully uplifting songs currently being offered on the site.

You will know immediately why Robbins' song "Luminous" won "Best Song of 2004" in the International Online Music Awards.  You will also know why she was nominated for "Best Female Solo Artist".  You will agree that her song writing and her voice reflect timeless character, elegant grace and searching sincerity.

There is an artistic depth to Robbins' music that speaks of beauty beyond the surface and yet lifts the listener with that transcendence that only art can give.  She indeed epitomizes the qualities she extols in her song "Luminous".

As you read her responses to the CreatorsWeb Interview questions below, you will see that there is something very special about Rose Robbins that goes much deeper than the mystic beauty of her music and the striking beauty of her face.  Hers is a beauty of the soul.

We are looking forward to her full length CD!

Music Style And Audience

How do you classify your music?

I really can't - I blend so many different styles; jazz, pop, R&B, classical...but all my music is emotional, and it all has the touch of elegance that comes from a deep love of the old composers.

Do you target a specific audience?  If so, who?

Because my music covers a variety of genres, it also seems to please a wide range of people!

Musical Instruments - Recording - Computer Hardware - Software

What musical instruments do you play?

I play piano, guitar, keyboards, flute and anything else that's nearby.

Do you record in a home studio?

I don't have any equipment at present...I have used a local studio to record the few tracks I have.

What equipment and software do you use?

I currently have nothing of the kind!

Musical Background -Influences

How did you get started playing music?

My father is a luthier, so I learned three chords from him when I was about eight years old...we got a piano when I was eleven. I had six months of lessons when I was fourteen, and that is pretty much the extent of my musical training! What has influenced your music the most? When I was a child I listened to classical music all the time. I lived on a farm, and I would milk cows with Vivaldi playing in my Walkman. My first album was a little record of the Mozart C major piano sonata, and I learned the whole slow movement off that record. I also spent a lot of time alone...I would sit out in a field with my guitar or my flute and play what I thought I could hear in the breeze or the birdsong.

Music And Internet Marketing

How has the Internet effected you as a musician?

I have learned so much! When twelve people in a row review your song and they all say the intro is too long or the drums are too loud, you pay attention. It has also given me hope - I live in a rural area and its difficult for me to find venues for my music - because of the Internet, people around the world have heard of me!

When did you start marketing your music on the Internet?

Two months ago* I discovered music on the Web...what a concept! (*Answers were written in February 2004) My main goal at this point is to be heard, so I have been trying to find sites far and wide to get as varied an audience as possible.

Musicians And The Future

What venues are you currently pursuing?

I sing on weekends at a little art gallery/bistro in my town...in the fall I'm planning to sing in a music festival on the west coast. This will be my third year there.

What does the future hold for you?

I wish I knew! But I do know this - I need to sing and I need to write, and I believe that my music moves people and makes them happy, so while I have breath I'll never stop trying!

Finally, is there anything else you want to say about yourself?

One of my greatest desires as a musician is to be a total package. I have known many musicians who were very talented but were either snobs, perfectionists or irresponsible airheads. I believe that the fact that I love my audiences and want to make them happy could make me a star - because to be a star you need more than talent. You also need brains, kindness, grace and enthusiasm, and I have all of those! (You also need an irreproachable pair of sunglasses, but one thing at a time.) And if I never "make it", I can still be a star to those who hear me, and I'll do my very best for them. Thank you so much for this opportunity.
